Quote Ryan has made an announcement
http://www.atlasquest.com/press/2008/

like he says...
he'd be crazy to pass up 6 figures

I'd love to see a video of the press conference where Ryan and the corporate McDonalds people sit down to discuss this promotion. The McD's guys are all in nice crisp suits and Ryan has just staggered in off the trail with his hair oily and dirty, two weeks of stubble on his chin, and his $6 shoes from Payless falling apart beneath him.

Press: This question is for the McDonald's representative... you usually do Happy Meal promotions with other major corporations such as Disney. What made you decide to work with this man who looks to be a hobo?

McD's guy: By leveraging our synergies we were able to action an interdisciplinary paradigm, thereby providing vertical solutions in today's global marketplace.

Press: This question is for Mr Carpenter... letterboxing is an activity that helps people get exercise and fresh air... why are you working with a corporation such as McDonald's that is often accused of promoting obseity among children?

Ryan: Look at these blisters! I call this one "France"!

Funny image, but I'm fairly certain that this would have gotten started before Ryan hit the trail.

Yeah...but did you see what those six figures are going for Dixie? Not just the beefed up server...but a dedicated person to ensure that everything on this site is "kid friendly".

So who's the judge of that now? Who's standards are we going to have to pass in order to get our boxes posted?

Now we get the joy of having a censor peruse our boxes and kicking out the ones they don't deem fit. Thats nice...NOT! Leave my boxes and clues the hell alone.

I'm damn close to pulling all my boxes off of AQ...Ryan, you have gone too far. The whole publicity thing got me ticked from the get go...but having to pass my boxes past someone who you know darn well will get a sick kick from the power makes me ill.

This sucks...big time. I'm so dissapppointed.

well Buppsters I have to somewhat agree but at least we still have our P and F restrictions... right?

I mean if the clues are restricted...
who will even know if the end result is kid friendly or not?

and I hope no one pulls boxes... let's see what the fall out of the sell out is first...
i would hate to lose anyone and their boxes.
but I do have to agree that Ryan has went further than I ever thought he would...
I don't see how the onslaught can be good for us.
if this becomes a "good thing" then I'll have to eat my words as usual

Heck, I include myself in that list since I can't seem to find an icon either, meaning I am not special just like everyone else.

Try your local girl scout council store. They sell a compass/whistle that is almost identical to that one, but orange...

We found a green one in a Geocache. It was the only thing I've traded for. The kids trade, but I wanted that. It's on my bag and the compass does work. Although it has some weird slots and stuff in it that seem like they should do something or be for something but we can't figure out what. *shrug*

I'm thinking what I might do is see if I have any peroblems.....such as haveing a box being blacklist for not being 'kid friendly' then I'll unlist every box on AQ.
