LOL! I actually had a pet mouse named Sir Sphincter A**farts III. It came from the following conversation:
"Is it a freaking prerequisite that anybody in line for the Pope has to be named John or Paul or something?"
"Are you being serious?"
"Yes, I'm being serious! Isn't a little odd that 90% of Popes are named something like that? I mean, how many people really name their child John Paul who just happen to be in line for Pope?"
"Uh, that's not their real names. They're given that name when they become Pope."
"What? Are you serious? Why the heck do they do that? What's wrong with their real names?"
"Well, nothing is particularly wrong with them. It's just that you have to make sure they're... well, Popely, I guess."
"What, like someone in line for Pope is going to be named Sir Sphincter A** farts III and then you're going to have to go around saying 'Oh, Holy Pope Sphincter A**farts! Blessed be Pope A**farts!'?"
Well, the whole conversation through us (in all our immature glory) into laughing convulsions and so became the name of the pet mouse a couple of days later. Of course, we just called him J, for short. :-)

She looks like she's wearing a cool crime-fighting mask. Or maybe a Mucha Lucha Mexican wrestling mask. Maybe you can find some cute names by checking out those cartoon characters?

I am a big proponent of naming animals weird names. I have a Lady Shiva (named from a Batman character), a God of Thunder (from a KISS song, which he recognizes when it comes on) and Elektra. None of them are called their names like this.... The dog is Shiva (which everyone pronounces Sheeba for some reason, but it's not), GOT is fatman and Elektra was named that for lack of anything else (we had to go to the vet the next morning and give a name after adopting her) but is now called Rat-rita, b/c when she was a kitty she slunk around like a rat and was adorable.
All of these names however are compromises.... every single one of them my man suggested Slipknot or Power Tool. Every single time, I had to fight for a more "normal" name and these are what we came up with.... while I don't want to give an animal a "human" name, these are a little weird.

Both puppies are absolutely adorable!
Dilly sounds like a good name to me, but that doesn't work, how about Callie?

Much as I love "Jungle Buttberry the third",
I'd cast a vote for Nova. Strong but feminine and sounds like a daughter of Grace.
Don't know if it works with your suffixes though.
She's just lovely and now you have a lot of good names to choose from.

Oh, oh, oh my gosh! I bout peed my pants laughing at the post about the pope and sir sphincter a**farts. hilarious!
anyway, i usually just go along for the ride and read these threads for entertainment but this time i actually have something to offer. I like unusual pet names too, and I have, believe it not, a pet name book! Like a book of baby names, only for pets. It's divided into chapters about names based on colors, body shapes, personalities, etc, etc, etc. I'd be glad to give you more info if you'd like. Just gimme an AQ holler if you wanna find some ideas outa there. :)

If you are looking for a tough name that still has a beautiful ring to it than I have a suggestion for you. We will definitely feel the cultural divide between where you guys live and where I live, but........... there's no prettier name for that cute little brown headed dog than Dixie;-)

My freind has a Jack Russell Terrier. His name is Tyler. She calls him Puddin' Pop, and I call him Mr. Spazmaticus. Talk about a bundle of energy.

I want to train my dog to fetch his squeaky toy on command. Then I want to get a kitten and name it "Squeaky Toy".

This will be my sixth or seventh Jack, not including the puppies.
The rule is, you gotta let them do their job, (which is killing rodents, and surveying their land...my Jack Russell PLB has a sticker on it which calls the JRTs the Patron Saint of Hall Monitors which is so true!!)
Oh, and keep out all the other evil dogs that might even think of venturing on their property...
It is going to be a loooong six weeks.
And she has to get here from Mississippi!

she looks like a 'Shelly' to me...but then again I had dogs named Berferd, Haven't and Squiggs..(don't ask, LOL!) but if she can 'ferret out' boxes with you maybe Lil Boxer (or Lilly for short) would be more apropos...
best of luck with your new addition to the family,

I wait for my animals to name themselves....
My cats are named Linguine, Niobe and Mister Firdusi.
Mister Firdusi is a character in a play by the painter Oskar Kokoschka, called The Metaphysics of Sex
here's a sampling:
"Enter Mister Firdusi. He is a giant revolving head with arms and legs carrying a pig's bladder on a string." Pigs bladders were used for balloons, prior to the invention of rubber, as you will remember from reading Laura Ingalls Wilder.
Ask Lock Wench about her cat's name.

Lock Wench, what is your cat's name?
Lisa, I would wait to name, but I have to grasp onto something...a name is something, even if it's not a little puppy.
My friend at work had a dog named "Stains" precisely so it would be quite offensive when you called him ;/

you know, your fam has a lot of history, perhaps a name connected with the history of the farm?
Or perhaps one of your ancestors had a great dog name that you could use.
Have fun waiting.
