Before posting my question I did a quick search on this board and sure enough, someone already posted it, and the responses were great.
But I've another question to ask...
I make cards, many of the Stampin' Up variety but sometimes just made up cards that are for the most part cards that I give to folks at our church where we still have the old time "mailbox" cubbies. In any given month there can be 10-20 birthdays, anniversaries, births, christenings, illnesses, deaths, etc...
Because no postage $ I tend to put the really fat cards in those rather than send thru the post.
Anyhoo, today I am sorting thru my supplies and realize I literally have dozens of LTC's, and most if not all are really beautiful and amazing works of art! SO why are they in a giant ZipLock in my closet?
Is it ok to integrate a LTC into the cards I make and send to people? Or is that poaching since it's definitely not trading.
I could make a note on back of card crediting the original artist as I'm not wanting to take credit for that. Is that good enough or should they stay traded/gifted as they are in their original state?

If you had some of my LTCs, I’d prefer that you shared them with folks who make LTCs rather than incorporating them into cards you give to muggles. The LTCs are less likely to get tossed if you did that.

In my opinion, once cards are in your hands, you are the owner. You can do what you want with them. I’m not gonna check in on them. I do appreciate when LTCs are passed along but when you give something away you relinquish all rights to that. Send it, gift it, trade it, recycle it, burn it… just give me credit ;)
Unless it’s the copyright police because the carving infringes upon an image copyright. Then I want no part of it! 🤣 You don’t know me. I’ve never seen it.

Using Sizzix Big Shot to emboss background paper
Board: LTC: Tips, Questions, and Stuff
Aug 12, 2024 5:15pm
I just bought a new Sizzix Big Shot to try making my own embossed background paper for LTCs. However, no matter what I do, I can't make a "sandwich" that embosses the paper. In fact, no matter which folder I use, I can't use both clear cutting boards around a folder and get it to go through the machine. For some folders, I can't even use one of the cutting boards with a folder and get it to go through the machine.
I've watched tons of videos and haven't been able to figure out what the problem is. Does anyone have suggestions? I'm going to return the machine if I can't figure it out.

I have the Sizzix Big Shot but is manual. Looks like the new one is electric since is Die Cutting. The first time I have problem passing the "sandwich" thru the machine. So, I just do a little 'push' before turning the handle. Maybe you can try that.

I have the manual one, too. I did try pushing the "sandwich" through the machine before turning the handle, but it didn't work. But thanks for the suggestion!

Have you try it without the "A"? I've done without it too and it works the same

Rocklun - I use a Sizzix Big Shot quite often. When using an embossing folder, I have to leave out the "2" part of the boards to get paper to emboss. Sometimes I take out "1" and "2" to get a light emboss. Hope this helps.

I usually start without #1 or #2 and just use the base, embossing folder, and top plate. I have removed the screws that keep #1 and #2 attached. This way I can use either #1 or #2 depending on the embossing folder that I use. It is all trial and error till finally triumph. Also, sometimes you need to spritz the paper with water before putting in the embossing folder to make it a little bit more pliable.

Hi,
For the Big Shot, it comes one of two ways
A platform that is like a book where one of the parts has screws and opens up to make the layers thinner. This system is what people are referring to when they say A or B- looks like this: https://www.schoolspecialty.com/sizzix-accessory-multipurpose-platform-2107162?utm_source=google&utm_medium=shopping&utm_campaign=20981646660&product_id=2107162&ad_group_id=161419618314&feed_item_id=&target_id=pla-1369206091916&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIkI-Xxp_xhwMVVU7_AR0QujVZEAQYAiABEgLk3fD_BwE&keyword=&gad_source=1
OR
You have different sized thick white plates. One is for embossing and one is for die cutting. (My main plate for die cutting is magnetic) these look like this: https://www.scrapbook.com/store/sz-656499.html?g_acctid=420-528-6360&g_adgroupid=169265179327&g_adid=707958560143&g_adtype=pla&g_campaign=Shopping+%7C+All+Products&g_campaignid=21309873302&g_ifcreative=&g_ifproduct=product&g_keyword=&g_keywordid=pla-59492454855&g_merchantid=6116&g_network=g&g_partition=59492454855&g_productchannel=online&g_productid=sz-656499&gad_source=1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIoYP24p_xhwMV1kr_AR0OFwzUEAQYBCABEgLRkfD_BwE

Using the older one you have 3 different thickness for one price. Using the newer plates you have to spend more. I guess that's progress. Anyway... Thanks for clarifying and showing the difference.

Thanks, everyone, for the suggestions! I finally got it to work after using different shims. The die-cutting is working perfectly. I ended up making an embossed card with die-cut words!

Ok, I am jumping in on this thread with a similar problem. I have the original big red sizzix and I don't know how to use the new thin dies I bought not realizing they wouldn't work with this machine.
any help would be awesome,

I will give that a try. It has been a long time since I bought them. I don't remember how much of a gap between the machine and the dies.

The machine that I bought came with all three part but separately - without the screws. The call one of the skinny 'A'. The other doesn't have letter or number.

Good morning Folks,
I finally found a cheap stamping press yesterday at our local store. Now as I look at the foolish thing, I can see it will work perfectly for those jobs that need to line up. But my question is....
What is the best way to get our rubber stamp to stick to the plastic so it can be removed easily for more stamps another time? Glue seems so final.

I have used double stick tape (repositional if it’s handy), Elmer’s glue stick also works.

Yes, regular glue stick, and it will rinse off both the plastic and the stamp with plain warm water.

There is a product you can paint on the back of the stamp called Aleen's Tack it over and over adhesive
https://www.amazon.com/Aleenes-Tack-Liquid-Bundled-Artisx/dp/B0D6HSH67S/ref=asc_df_B0D6HSH67S/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=693649350646&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=16341396489682702683&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9021556&hvtargid=pla-2344356293891&mcid=8b5cd9e56e7f32cfaf243da4e4e77c0f&th=1
this is just an example of the bottle
It is water soluble...so if you get your stamp wet, it will come off.
You paint it on the back, give it time to dry, then it will stick to your stamping block or positioner.
I also use double side adhesive tape.......

I found on Amazon :
Transparent Tape - Double Sided Tape Heavy Duty, Double Sided Tape for Crafts, Double Sided Mounting Tape, Adhesive Waterproof Removable Nano Clear Tape for Wall Hanging, Fixing (15PCS).
These are reusable squares and can be washed to restore the stickiness to them. They need to be under the whole stamp for uniformity in stamping.
Sorry I haven't figured out how to let you click right to Amazon to view the item.

I wad up a piece of masking tape and stick it to the bottom on the stamp and press, ink, and re-ink as necessary. I have also used double sided tape from my ATG gun. Works great. 👍
