Hmmm......I might have to talk E into going. I don't know if we both can find a sitter for 5 kids. She has her family....I'll have to start putting feelers out now. Hope we can make it!

Yes, it is a Sunday. Yes, Barley's is open on a Sunday. There's even a jazz band named Skylark scheduled for that night.
Y'all change it to Saturday and I can't come (any Saturday). A Friday night might be do-able.

Just checked two others--Hannah Flannagan's and Jack of the Wood. Both are open on Sunday. I figure Sunday hours must be standard.

For the truly adventurous there will be Joli Rouge, our very own pirate bar.
Now I've replied to myself way too many times. I'm going to let someone else talk now.

**thinking to self** Knit Wit sure does know a lot about bars in Asheville. Wondering why she isn't ever available on Saturday nights. She *says* it's because of hubby's contradance habit - however, I'm beginning to be suspicious........
Mama Fox - wondering if we can plant a box in the dive - oh I mean "bar" - on my road...... and if we plant one in the combo bar/tattoo place in "downtown" Leicester, will we have time to get a tattoo??

My dear Mama Fox, I know only what a quick Google search on the above-named places returns. Quick check of the respective web pages and I know the open hours.
If this pub crawl takes us anywhere near Joli Rouge though, I may be saying a swift sayonara... That place looks weird.
No tattoos for me thanks--it would wreck my blood donating for quite a while.

Yeah, me too. I shouldn't have said anything - some people who like to do "sneaky" things *coughDarthWolfcough* might make us get a tattoo just to get the box - lol!!!
Probably too much to hope that the Johnny Depp/Jack Sparrow look-a-like contest would be held that night, huh???? ;-)) I'd be glad to volunteer as a judge *snickering*
I have this funny story about a bar on Leicester Hwy (the road leading out to Leicester, this place is actually in Asheville). A friend of mine used to work in commerical insurance. She got a call from a lady, who said she and her daughter had this business, and she needed to talk about insurance, yadda yadda yadda. My friend didn't catch the name of the business, and for some reason, thought it was a childcare center. So she goes to the address, and not only is it not a child care center, but it's a bar - and one of the two (at the time) local strip clubs. My friend is very laid back, and has a great sense of humor, and had a big laugh with the lady and her daughter (who was one of the dancers) about her mistake.

ROTFL!!!
Seriously, I hope we are not driving from bar to bar; I'd much rather stagger.
Joli Rouge is a must - how can they possibly be weirder than *us*?
The only thing I'll have a problem with is if a bar is smoky from cigarettes. Then I will whine.
I think I'll have to take Monday off; I run the office at a substance abuse clinic....they'd be able to tell...

If you actually WANT a tattoo, you might want to check on this the next time you donate. If you are donating through the Red Cross, I believe they have relaxed those particular restrictions. Still needs to be done in a licenced shop, though.

I think I get enough tatooes with all the ink I get on myself. I think it would be rather funny to stamp yourself up and then go in.
The person mostly likely to get a tattoo while there would be Mama Flory.

well... dang... the Sunday thing was a mistake.
I had my PDA thingey set to show my calendar weeks starting on Monday and didn't realize it.
Barley's may be open but I don't know if some of the other pubs will be...
I don't mind a Sunday if the other places are available...but Saturday seems like the obvious choice.
i really want u to come and make it to where the most can etc...
I am gonna be in touch with some of veteran pub crawl folks and the establishments themselves...
then I can weigh the differences better i suppose.

For the record I do not want some yay-hoo sticking me thousands of times with a tiny little dye-filled needle and leaving an image on my skin that I will regret having when I'm 75 and said image does not look crisp and perfect anymore.
Or should I tell you how I really feel... ;-)

I'll do what I can to get there on a Saturday but the other half is usually contradancing on Saturdays too (as well as Thursdays and sometimes Fridays). Hmmmmm, seeing that all written out like that, I'm thinking I need a night out too.

no bars out in other areas... just downtown.

Barley's
Jack of The Wood
Magnolia's
Tressa's
Hannah Flanagan's
is there more close in and downtown?
