Surburban Suprise in Chatswood, on the North Shore in Auckland New Zealand, is my first letterbox. It is a hybrid letterbox /geocache.
Directions
Head north over the harbour bridge and take the off ramp to Onewa Road, then Mokoia Road then Porritt Avenue then Mappin Place. At the end of Mappin Place look for a narrow path to Chatswood Reserve.
Head down the track 30 metres and take the first right, track to the "Kauri Trees".
100m metres or so along this track, and shortly after climbing some steep stairs look for a seat. Just beyond the seat and within reach from the track, check the holes under the plants.
Here you will find Suburban Surprise and within it my first (primitive) stamp. Bring your stamp pad please.
But you must continue on 30 metres or so and check out the trees that are the main feature.
For the fit, with a couple or three hours to spare there is a bush walk connecting with the "Sailboat" box at Chelsea.
