Parking: Drive to the University of Guelph. http://www.uoguelph.ca
Just off of College on Power House Lane is a parking lot that has the same number as the football team The San Franciscos. There's no metered parking available but you can watch your car as you search for this one. (Parking is free after 5pm and on weekends and holidays).
Available in Winter: plowed nearby parking, box should be attainable
Lunchtime box
Muggles Nearby: Stealth required. Watch for muggles.
Size: small, altoids tin
This is an urban micro-letterbox hidden in an area that could get busy especially in the Fall. Be discrete. Quietest times: Summer semester: anytime. Fall and Winter semesters: evenings after 5pm, weekends and holidays. Should be winter accessible.
The box is approx. 3"x5". It includes a log book, handmade stamp and pencil but it's too small for a stamp pad so bring your own ink.
From the parking lot look for the public telephone. Facing the telephone, look to your right. You are steps away from the box. Up 6 and to your right. If you sit down it'll be to your left. Magnetic attraction. A small mirror may help you in your search.
Bonus box: take the above paragraph and do the opposite when it comes to directions (left/right). When you find it log your find here: https://www.atlasquest.com/lboxes/showboxinfo.html?gBoxId=46375
- I think a lot of letterboxers worry about taking too much room up in the logbook - if you find one of mine, take as much room as you need
- And I'd appreciate an email if the logbook gets down to one empty page, then I'll go out and replace it asap
- Due to bleed-through it's best not to stamp on the back of pages that have already been stamped or written on.
- I'm a big fan of public comments and appreciate when people leave a public log on any of my letterboxes (I just ask that your comments not reveal the location/hiding spot).
- If you've visited the letterbox and would like to see the old Gryphons logbooks (I've scanned the pages and put them on my blog) contact me for the password.
