Great Stamp. Comment about being a mountain goat was very helpful, as this was my second attempt to find it. Was only able to get the stamp compartment open. Not enough grip strength to open the compartment I assume had the log book. Can't believe how long this box has been here and how long it has been since it was found. Thank you.

I think the rows of limestone were removed when recent construction was done in this corner. Beautiful Place. Lived here 68 years and never new the remains of the lock were there.

Quite a dangerous footing for anyone but Mountain goats! Nice stamp, but your letter box logbook is totally mash.

The good: the stamp is lovely, the lock very interesting. Afterwards you can hike over the bridge, bear right, and go a surprisingly long way.
The bad: the logbook is an unidentifiable wet mass.
The ugly: I think the oaks are all gone. They must have been impressive - at least one stump was 4' across.
Comment: Dress for poison ivy to retrieve the capsule.

This was awesome to locate and a great stamp!! The logbook is in dire need of replacing though :(

Nice walk, good clues. We enjoy the Erie Canal, have done some canal trips.

never would have known the lock was there. thanks!

Alive and well after nearly seven years. Logbook is very full and unraveling, but otherwise is in good shape.

What a great place! So interesting! Wonderful hunt. Thanks so much for planting. The log tapes are full- people are using pieces of clues for a logbook. Thanks for the fun!
