Stamp has been taken. The log is soaked but we could still get a picture of the carve (which will go in our log book) and it was lovely!

we found the box, but the stamp is missing, and the logbook is soaked. But at least we can say that we founs a box in NZ!

I had been through Taupo a few times since I become aware of this letterbox's existence but for some reason I thought it was hidden somewhere in a location we never got to. This time, not only did we stay in Taupo for a night, I noticed something that made the penny drop as to where I needed to go. I managed to correctly follow the instructions and find the nicely hidden treasure. Everything is in good order although it was difficult to avoid some thorny plants. There have been a number of entries in the logbook; I suspect largely by geocachers thinking they had found the nearby cache.

Bit of a tricky one - the couple we took with us worked it out as they were locals. Going by our problem solving, we would have been out by several kilometres.
