PZ Kut
The world-famous PK Kut! It's a tough, remarkably cheap product that many letterboxers love to carve. Of the choices below, the Tortuga recommends the white, grade 'B' PZ Kut since it's easier to cut than the orange, and takes ink better, but there are fans of orange PZ Kut as well.

Mastercarve is considered the premier carving block of choice for truly spectacular stamp carvings. It's available in sizes so thick that they work well even without being mounted, and can even be carved on both sides or the edges! Available in the following sizes:

Speedball Speedy-Carve Carving Blocks
Also known as the "pink stuff", Speedy Carve (formerally known as Speedy Stamp) is a popular but cheaper alternative to Mastercarve. The carving blocks are thinner, but this can often be an advantage for microboxes where space is slim, if you'll pardon the pun. =) Available in the following sizes:

Staedtler Mastercarve Tool Set

Speedball Lino Cutter Handle
If you already have the tips but want to upgrade the wooden handle that comes with the kits, you can buy this plastic handle separately. The handle has a hand-adjusted screw chuck which make them easy to fit and change blades, and the end comes off where you can store tips for quick and easy access.
