Description

Come to our 12th TX Annual Letterbox Event (TALE) as we show our State pride and fierce determination to defend it against anyone foolish enough to mess with us. This can include things that make you proud of TX, ways people might mess with it and resulting retaliations by people or critters living here. Since at least 2 people have been bitten by snakes at TX Events, the repercussions can be severe even if the transgression is unintended. So be careful and remember, the eyes of TX are upon you, so don't mess with Texas!

Jan 20, 2015: Pre-TALE 12 Dinner Event
Just wanted to let everyone know we are having a dinner event the night before TALE 12 at Patsy's Cafe, so be sure to sign up soon so we can give a head count on our reservation.

Feb 16, 2015: Prepare For Creek Crossing
McKinney Falls SP has many miles of trails that will contain quite a few letterboxes for TALE 12, but many are located across Onion Creek near the Lower Falls, which is currently flowing pretty well. If you plan to cross the creek to find these boxes, there are two places I recommend crossing: above the falls, which is wide and slippery and about 1 foot deep but requires no climbing, and below the falls by the beach, which is narrower and shallower but you have to climb down then back up on the other side. Either way you should come prepared with water shoes and/or walking stick to aid in crossing, and maybe a bathing suit if the weather allows swimming. I'm not trying to scare anyone, just giving a heads up. If you take it slow it can be fun and safe, so treat it like an adventure!
