Description
We have been busy assembling letterboxes for the Share the Love event on August 13th and have more than Dedisse Park can handle. So, we're planting some stamps in Flying J Ranch, just 7.5 miles away, on County Highway 73 between Evergreen and Conifer. There are two entrances to the park. Our picnic area is off the entry road, north of Shadow Mountain Road. There are three sheltered picnic areas and flush toilets at this area, but no drinking fountains. If you would like to get a head start on the event, find some boxes and get some exchanges, come to the pre-event on Friday evening. It's a "bring your own ..." event. There are great places in Evergreen to get carryout food. We will only be providing light snack items. This is a Jefferson County Open Space park which allows alcohol, if you wish to bring adult beverages.
These letterboxes will be permanent plants that you can get any time, if you can't make the picnic or the main event.
If you are considering tent camping, there is free hike-in camping about 8 miles away at Reynolds Ranch Park http://jeffco.us/open-space/activities/camping/reynolds-park/. Permits are required which must be picked up from the Open Space Office in Golden.
RV and tent camping are available at Chief Hosa campground, about 17 miles away from Flying J. https://www.denvergov.org/content/denvergov/en/denver-parks-and-recreation/parks/mountain-parks/chief-hosa-campground.html
Hope you can join us!
Aug 3, 2016: Pre-event letterboxes
We've been busy, busy, busy planting letterboxes at Flying J Ranch. There are over 70 new letterboxes planted (plus the ones already there).
We've planted along two loops. The longer loop is betwee two and three miles, and the shorter loop is a little over one mile.
If you would like the Word document emailed to you in advance to get an early start, please send me a personal email address that accepts files. I will publish the clues on AQ on Friday morning August 12th, if you prefer to receive them that way, and we will have a few print-outs at the event.
Can't wait to see everyone! Box 'till you drop :-)
