Description

Please join other Rocky Mountain letterboxers for the Golden Treasures Gathering - an event that preboxed, Allemeyn and Front Range Hiker are hosting at Genesee Park near Golden Colorado. We're planning to have some letterboxing games with prizes, a barbecue and some new boxes for the occasion.

Camping is available nearby at the Chief Hosa campgrounds, exit 253 on I-70. http://www.denvergov.org/ChiefHosaLodgeandCampground/tabid/391216/Default.aspx

We will meet at one of the picnic area near the top of Genesee mountain. To find our area, take Interstate 70 to exit 254. Follow the signs to Genesee Park (on the South side of I-70, turn right at the T intersection). Travel on Genesee Mountain Road uphill to just past the very large parking area on the right, closest to the top of the mountain. There is another smaller parking area on the left side of this roadway, adjacent to the picnic tables we will be using.

We'll provide some light snacks for the get together around 10 am and clue sheets for the special boxes planted for the occasion. Plan on returning to the picnic area around 5:30 pm for a barbeque and awarding of the letterboxing prizes. Bring something to grill and we'll provide the side dishes.

We'll have the barbecue rain or shine, alternate arrangements have been made for shelter in case of rainy weather.
