Wasn’t really thinking we would find this one today after such a long time, but we gave it a shot since we were already on the trail from Golden Bay to Half Moon Bay. We were pretty sure the first two bridges we passed at the beginning of the track didn’t count, and after the next two bridges that were further spread out we saw a Rimu right on the edge of the trail. The Ponga is no longer there, though we could see where it was. I dug through the bark and accumulated dirt for a while but I wasn’t finding anything and the soil was falling away under my feet leaving me in a precarious position. If this one is still here, it’s very heavily buried under years of dirt.
