Returned the box AT LAST to its hiding place, with an expanded logbook. Was distressed to find, quite nearby (a foot away!) what appeared to be a homeless person's suitcase. Unlikely that they will find Preboxed's box, since it's so tucked down in the shrub, but still.... On the other hand, what a difficult thing it must be, to be homeless, and I think I'll be praying for that person for awhile.

It looks like Preboxed had the joke on me! 1. I took the box home in June, in order to add more pages to the logbook. 2. I'm glad I made a list of all who had found the box, as very few of them had actually logged their finds online, and I would never have known. 3. I'm sorry now that I was careful to be sure to return the box to its hiding place before leaving for a 3-week vacation, because.... 4) As shown in the photo above, the "shrub" where the box was hidden (below the trees) has been COMPLETELY removed, and so has the letterbox. 5) I fully understand the need for removing the shrubs, because homeless people were camping there and/or storing their belongings in and behind the shrubs. 6) Perhaps I will replace it one day... in a somewhat newer location... will take a look around during our weekly Boy Scout meetings.

Checked box & logbook -- took logbook home, to add a few pages. Additional Finders:
5/8/11: Alarch
7/1/11: Leave a Legacy & Bito-onon (Pasadena)
12/28/11: Snoopy 3
4/15/12: NEW Letterboxers (their second find!) from Covina: Lori, McKenna, Karley, & Richard (who's originally from England, the birthplace of letterboxing) -- WELCOME!
5/13/12: So. Cal. Jungs (my Mother's Day Mystery Letterboxers!)
5/21/12: Hot Bettie & BluBeard (Lincoln Heights)
Thanks, everybody, for finding & caring for, this box!)

Witnessed a family of 5 or 6, letterboxing together on Mother's Day. They found this box, stamped-in, and returned it. As of 5/15, they haven't yet logged their find. I'm logging it in the meantime, though, so the next prospective searcher will know how recently it's been found. What a privilege and treat it was, to observe the whole process!

While we were in Denver Colorado we meet Preboxed at an LB gathering. So sad to hear the news that she is gone. Her memories will last with the boxes we had found which were planted by her. RIP

Nice memorial tribute. Very interesting piece of history.

All good with the box. The Boy Scout House isn't marked as such anymore, but still an easy find by following your clues.

My mom, a 40yr resident of Covina, dines at the Joslyn Senior Center several times a week. As far as she knows, no one there is aware there's a box hiding so near by!
