Description
This event will be a driving tour of some fairly spooky stamp sites in WNY (this time in Niagara County). Drivers can start wherever they like once the clues are posted, then return to our home for some basic meet & greet festivities as well as the event stamp. The boxes will be permanent, but the event stamp will ONLY be available Saturday from noon to 2 p.m. (see the update below). Some important details prior to your trip:
· With the exception of the event stamp (which will ONLY be around that weekend), all these boxes are permanent placements, so don’t worry if you can’t get them all in one weekend…you’ve got the rest of your life (or until the muggles find them, whichever comes first!)
· On that note, be sure to look around carefully, since even out in the sticks where many of these stamps are, there are farmhouses that can see RIGHT WHERE YOU ARE! We recommend carrying a camera or camera phone of some sort (or paper so you look like you’re doing tombstone rubbings). Tell any muggles that you’re following a “Cemeteries of Niagara County” tour instead of boxing.
· The boxes are simply the stamps on about an inch square piece of pink carving material and are usually NOT in boxes, so don’t look for anything big (or even a logbook until you reach the gathering location).
Update 10/4/09: Just finished mapping out the two routes for the event...you'll have 38 cemeteries total this year (19 in two loops), so pace yourselves! We've designed each loop to start in Lockport, but if you need directions to start from another location, we can help. Just contact us. On that note, since the Highlander and I live in Orleans County, we will be meeting at Panera's on Transit Road in the Home Depot complex in Lockport instead of our place. We've set the gathering time from noon to 2 p.m. Since this is a restaurant, you will NOT need to bring any food, just yourselves! Finally, the clues will be posted by Thursday the 15th. You'll need to print a set of your own, since we may not have any with us!
Update 10/11/09: We've started planting boxes! We'll have the whole thing finished tomorrow and the clues posted on Thursday as planned. Make SURE you pick up a Mapworks brand Niagara County map because they actually have all the cemeteries that we're visiting listed. If you can't get that, at least get the Western NY version from Mapworks. It's not as detailed, but you'll see most of the roads you need.
Update 10/14/09: And now we're DONE! The clues are listed and ready to go. Just so you know, I (the Sprite) am FAMOUS for screwing up left and right when I'm hurriedly typing up clues. If you've REALLY searched one direction, try the other!

Also, have you checked out the first two Hallowed Grounds tours? Most of the stamps are still around! Check here for clues, but be SURE to look at the info on AQ for EACH stamp's availability...the printed clues will NOT tell you what's missing!
