Description

We are hosting a mini-even in Denton to catch up with the letterboxers in Texas. The theme will be Middle Earth. The event is being held close to the birthdays of Bilbo and Frodo Baggins from J.R.R Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings.

Hot dogs and hamburgers will be served, and the sides/desserts, etc will be pot luck. (Please contact either of the event coordinators if you need a vegetarian option!) Can't cook? Bring plates/veggies/mustard and so forth. Cupcakes will be provided for our 'birthday' cake. Lunch will begin around 1200, and door prizes will be awarded at that time.

The Middle Earth Birthday Bash will be held at North Lake Park in Denton, Texas. We are hoping for Pavillion #3.

We have a bit of news to report for the event.

First of all, I will work to get directions up. I must admit I am terrible at directions, and I will work with Trilliongrams about getting the best routes up from each direction.

Second, we have a wonderful small event planned about 1pm after lunch - the Birthday Raffle! We have about 20 prizes up for grabs. Each TRAIL NAME in attendance will be entered into the drawing. The major prize will be a Premier Membership for a year! Each prize will be random (you will be to choose a 'birthday gift' to open), to keep it fair. Other prizes will include stamp pads, carving materials, books, LTCs, just to name a few. Good luck to each of you!

Also, our event stamp is, well, somewhat large. Be prepared.

I am not aware if everyone knows, but we lost a very beloved letterboxer last week, Blooming Flowers. She will be dearly missed, since we were looking forward to meeting her in Denton next weekend. So, in Janet's honor, we will be taking donations (it will be anonymous, envelopes and a cash box will be set up) and every single penny donated Saturday will be donated to the Leukemia Foundation in Dallas for Janet. I will not take a single dime, I will arrange for all of it to go to the foundation. For those who wish to donate, we will have a stamp or LTC next to the box.

Lastly, if you do not wish to cook but wish to help, contact me directly if you want to do some non-food or non-dish type item. Don't feel pressured, I will provide whatever is needed if we need plates/vggies/ mustard, etc etc!

Please feel free to plant boxes - the more the merrier!

DIRECTIONS:

Take 35 towards Oklahoma to University Drive - exit off to go East. Very soon, you will turn North onto Bonnie Brae. Take Bonnie Brae to the park. We will have up signs to turn into the correct spot. Our pavillion will be next to a Playground.
