The Event Stamp

Description

We tried resorts, we tried camping, we even tried to convince people to day trip it, finally we decided to not organize it at all. Everyone can pick their own place to stay, eat, and hunt...However....

This two day event we be a TRAIL BOXING event by day, and a EXCHANGE / TRADE / SHARE / TEACH / SOCIALIZE event by night. For those that care to participate, there will be a letterboxing style scavenger hunt interwoven with the event. Prizes will be given. We will post details and a schedule as it solidifies.

Official Schedule


Friday
9:00-10:30am Meet, sign-in, exchange, get "rules" to the scavenger hunt, get special clues.
10:30 Start Box Hunts
1:00 Scheduled Optional lunch meet (suggested meet at Mazza in Rhinebeck on Rt. 9)
2:30 Continue box hunts
5:00 Optional potluck dinner meet (at the Pavilion in the Rec. Park), exchange, LTC swap

Saturday
9:00-10:30am Meet, sign-in, exchange, get "rules" to the scavenger hunt, get special clues.
10:30 Continue box hunts
5:00 Turn in scavenger proofs, announce prizes, exchange, LTC swap

Scavenger Hunt:
Obtain Event stamp in logbook. All stamps (boxes) stamped in after the event stamp will count towards your raffle totals. Series on long trails will be counted as a single long trail. (i.e. 12 boxes in a series on a 3 mile trail scores 4 points total). Raffle tickets will be given out for each point verified.
  • 0 Points: Exchanges, event box, PTs, or table toppers
  • 1 Point: Drive by, cootie, picture of a noxer taking a picture of your team or you
  • 2 Points: Box on trails up to 1 mile, picture of you at the abandoned buildings at Mills Norrie State Park, picture of someone planting a cootie with stealth
  • 3 Points: Box on trails 1-3 miles, found hitchhiker, for a photo from a fire tower, ALL the event's in park boxes, picture of you from middle of the walkway over the Hudson
  • 4 Points: Box on trails 3-6 miles, mystery box, picture of you in a waterfall, picture of a snake, turtle, bear, or deer on the trail
  • 5 Points: Box on trails over 6 miles
  • 6 Points: Night box

You must be present at the time of the awards to win.

Start doing your research now. Plan your days carefully. There are literally hundreds of boxes within 30 miles of our location.

The event headquarters will be the Red Hook, NY Recreation Park on Linden Avenue (View Larger Map). From here you will be centrally located to search for boxes on both sides of the great Hudson River.

There are not chain hotels anywhere real close, but Kingston is about 20 minutes away and Poughkeepsie is about 30 minutes south. Locally you can stay at The Beekman Arms (oldest Inn in America), Madalin, minutes away, Mohonk Mountain House, 35 minutes away or other lodging.
