Description
This Halloween event will be hosted at a unique Victorian setting: the Seminary Hall building of the Parsonsfield Seminary (ParSem) in Parsonsfield, Maine. Parsonsfield Seminary burned mysteriously in 1854, allegedly by opponents of integration. Seminary Hall was rebuilt in 1857 and the current stewards have put in a lot of work to restore the original look of the building. If you're interested in the paranormal, the campus is apparently haunted!ParSem is also known for its incredible Halloween Haunted House hosted in the Dormitory building, which will be open the evening of the event. The haunted house features about 40 rooms on all 4 floors! We have created a tracker to see what the interest is for attendance at the Parsonsfield Seminary's Annual Haunted House. Depending on the interest and attendees, we will be able to get a group rate. If interested please add yourself to the Haunted House Tracker.
We hope that you will join us for what is sure to be a great letterboxing event!
We are currently collecting items for the Steampunk Halloween raffle.
As with other events, we are asking that all attendees carve a PT for this event, steampunk-inspired of course.
We encourage attendees to come in costume, and are very excited to see what everyone comes up with!

Sep 8, 2012: Steampunk Halloween - A Victorian High Tea
Hello To All!
This message is to let you know of our plans for food at the event next month. We will not be hosting a traditional potluck. Instead, we will be hosting a Victorian High Tea, sticking with the theme of the event. Food provided will consist of finger foods - tea sandwiches, cookies, appetizers, and beverages. If anyone wishes to contribute, which we would graciously accept, please contact me through AQ. I will send you some ideas to choose from, or perhaps you have a few of your own that would fit into our themed Tea. Either way, please contact me.
An important note: If you so wish to bring in your own lunches, you are welcome to do so, but keep in mind there are no fast food places in the area of the event, so you will need to plan accordingly in your travels.
Looking forward to seeing you all in Parsonsfield, Maine.

Sep 9, 2012: Open letter from Captain Seafire .....
I received today a letter from the mysterious Captain Seafire and was asked to relay this to the future attendees of the Victorian Tea & Technology event in Parsonfield this October. It goes as follows:

I'm looking for some crew for my ship, SteamFire. We're embarking on a mission to the floating islands on the outer rim, mapping/exploring/prospecting, you know, that sort of thing. Could be dangerous. But then again, what in Life isn't.. Our world is full of opportunities as our skies are filled with airships!
Along with Sprocket my, chief engineer, I am seek some able bodies to join my adventures beginning in October. The following positions are being sought for our adventurous expedition.. Please contact me directly... A brief note to your qualifications is appreciated!
*First Officer (clearly needs to know how to pilot and manage the crew)
*Navigator/Cartographer (we will be mapping the outer rim floating islands)
*Bartender/Cook/Advisor
*Scientist/Explorer types who are handy with tools, weapons and the like (since we are going to be exploring those islands)
*General Crew/Deck hands...yes, my airship has a deck (great for parties!)
Thank you! May your sky be clear and your course straight...
Captain Seafire "
So folks I guess someone is doing some recruiting....Perhaps a few brave souls will inquiry directly to this adventure...

Sep 17, 2012: Good Evening!
I am so pleased to announce that due to the excitement generated by our event and the steampunk theme, we will be having a costume catwalk contest.... We are so pleased that people have really embraced "suiting up " with a WIDE variety of steampunk costumes/attire!
I want everyone to have a turn to show off whatever they create, its all about fun and you should take your turn on the catwalk in front of everyone!
Remember the two main steampunk components are always a unique hat and YES!! GOGGLES... You can always recycle a previous costume , tweek it with these items and presto a steampunk costume!
Though everyone attending in costume is a winner , Randomly selected judges will select
MR Steampunk (Overall best male costume)
Mrs Steampunk(Overall best Female costume)
Junior Steampunk( Best kid's/ young adult costume)
All attendees in costume are encouraged to participate!
You can either email me in advance or sign up the day of the event....( at the event sign in area).
Always available to consult prior to the event to help you get some fun ideas.
Thank you!

Sep 20, 2012: From the Pen script of Captain Seafire....
Once again at the request of the mysterious Captain Seafire, I am posting the following:( Believe me folks this is as much as mystery to you as it is me :) Truly! It as as follows:
Bonjour, M Kokopellian!
I have recently returned from the eastern edge of the European continent on an urgent mission of utmost importance to determine the source of radioactive disruption in the region, and have discovered more crewmembers for our little adventure.
It is with great pleasure that I reveal the crew of the SteamFire, an advanced airship outfitted in the very latest equipment for scientific exploration, as well as self-defence (of course):
Captain Seafire, responsible for ensuring mission success;
Chief Engineer Sprocket, in charge of steamworks and propulsion;
First Officer Sir Wolfeson, aviateur extraordinaire;
Lieutenant MissChievous, master of cartography/navigation;
Ensign Lilya, scientific operations;
Ensign SteamPug, assistant engineer;
Crewman Ada Coleman, galley keep/head adviseur;
Crewman Shotsie, mixology specialist.
I look forward to our assemblage in the coming month in the northern realm and am making preparations for our voyage forthwith.
With warm regards,
Captain Seafire
Will other mysterious individuals come forward? I frankly shiver to imagine what this group of attendees will do to further announce their collective arrival! and what will this do to this somewhat formal social function on the quaint community of Parsonsfield.....
Sep 24, 2012: Looking for something to do on Sunday?
Are you looking for a fun Sunday hike? We've set up a Steampunk Revue hiking tour of the Sawyer Mountain highlands.
It's a bit of a hike and a climb to a 1213' summit. But it's in a beautiful area and features some great steampunk carves (I don't normally like to toot my own horn, but these are some of the best carves that I've ever done, and the other contributors' stamps are fantastic as well).
I would NOT recommend that you attempt this series on the day of the event unless you get a very early start and you team park it (one car in Limerick and start the hike in Limington). Otherwise, you'll be stuck out on the trail and miss all of the steampunk festivities!
Oct 4, 2012: Steampunk Tarot Card Reading Invitation
It is with great pleasure that I can announce that Evangaline, the Gypsy Fortune Teller, will be present to illuminate attendees and baffle the mind with her tarot card readings. She will be personally inviting members of the audience to join her for a private card reading in her parlor with her amazing hand created cards from the Beyond. Participants will be sure to get answers to whatever question they choose to present to the empathic Evangaline.
I, Dr. Jackson Ursa, will be accompanying her as I have been documenting and studying Evangaline's practices in the name of scientific knowledge for some time. I will be visually recording the readings, and will attempt to transfer these images to the world at http://www.ustream.tv/channel/steampunk-halloween-the-vicar-of-parsonsfield from 1 to 2 pm. I hope others will join me to observe and converse as I attempt to scientifically explain or debunk this mystic.
Cordially,
Dr. Jackson Ursa
Oct 5, 2012: PTs and Event Boxes
Wow, I can't believe how quickly the event is coming! So many last-minute preparations are left to be made! :)
I hope all of you have been working on a steampunk PT. It's not required, but it's definitely encouraged :)
If you have any event boxes that you are bringing, please list them on the event page so that people can prepare their lists. We only ask that all event boxes fit the theme of the event.
Can't wait to see you all!
Oct 7, 2012: Safety Reminder
We will have some series planted on trails, so make sure you bring your blaze orange. It's bear hunting season in Maine!!
Oct 15, 2012: Contraption Kerfuffle!
One of Elias's demonstration machines has overloaded and has sent cogs flying everywhere! Please be on the lookout for these silvery metallic menaces while attending the Parsonsfield Seminary Technology Luncheon and Victorian Tea. Please only make an impression of a piece if you find one, and do not move or collect them. Elias will be mapping out the dispersal of the pieces to determine the cause of the cogwheel calamity.
Oct 17, 2012: "The Haunting"
To all of the folks who pre-paid for the haunted house, I am in possession of your tickets. Please make sure to see me during the day to get them.
For those who weren't able to get in on the group rate, we were able to get a couple of extra tickets which will be in the raffle.
The cost at the door for the haunted house is $12/person, for those who didn't get your tickets early.
I got a preview of the house when I went to pick up the tickets this weekend! Let me tell you... it's going to be hauntingly wonderful!

Oct 17, 2012: The Arrival!
Time is drawing ever so close and the hard working organizers are putting together the final pieces to our event on Saturday!
We are all so happy you have signed up and we encourage you to invite other boxers, or people who might be interested to attend!
So I wanted to take a moment and explain the "what to do" when I arrive at this event.There will be several things going on throughout the event day but here is what happens when you drive in.
At approximately 11 we will open the doors to the event hall.
All attendees will enter and sign into the first floor and receive the event stamp and a card.( for each name signed up)
Upon finishing this and getting your card you will proceed upstairs and be greeted with new instructions to the seating area inside our event.
at approximately 11:30 when most everyone has arrived , our hosts and likely the Vicar will welcome you to the event and share some instructions.
A short time after that you will begin the adventure/mystery of the day.
Some parts of the day we would like everyone to attend, including the costume contest, the group photo and definitely the ending to our mystery. Dont worry these times will be shared and announced!
**You will get to know each other and the "citizens" of this community quite well to solve the mystery... Remember this is all in good fun! :)
Any questions? email me :)
If some of you would like to "assist" us to make the mystery a bit more interactive, email me as well..
Thanks
Mainekokopellian
