Boxtoberfest 2012

Date: Saturday October 13th, 2012

251 County Road Route 513

Where: Meet at Picnic Area C also called the Hoppock Pavilion. The pavilion is handicap accessible although it is rather hilly and uneven, please be advised! Look for the signs~ There are restrooms located nearby. The park is pet friendly, although camping is not. The park opens at 8 am but the park office is temporarily closed (budget cuts)- we will have park maps available.

Time: 10am- 4:30pm. The traditional gathering is Saturday at the Picnic Area C. We will have clue books available at the gathering for our new boxes. Remember to bring your own clues for the other boxes at Voorhees State Park. There will be a raffle at Noon, you don't have to be present to win!

Lunch Pot Luck: Please bring a pot luck dish to share! There are no outlets in the pavilion but there are several grills located nearby. Bring anything you wish, we'll have bottled water and sodas available.

Bring: Boxtoberfest started as a New Jersey gathering hosted by letterboxingbee back in the early days of the hobby. For the gathering she would ask each attendee to bring a non-perishable food item, personal hygiene products or cleaning supplies to be donated to the New Britain Food Larder. In 2011, we were able to donate over 100 pounds of food! So please bring a non-perishable food item or a hygiene item for the donation box! There will be a special stamp for those who can donate. Thank you!

Camping: We have reserved Group Camping Site A for Friday night and Saturday night. There is $5 charge per night for camping to offset the cost. Please make sure to sign up for camping at "Boxtoberfest 2012 After Dark"

Night Boxing: TBD- Just remember to bring a flashlight or headlamp to find the boxes.

September 29, 2012: Update
We were at the park today planting for the upcoming events, and the trails are in good shape! The trail is rather rocky, just be prepared.

A big thank you to Lightnin Bug!! He reloaded the map for again for this year!!! We are at the Hoppock Pavilion also known as picnic area C. See you soon!

Sep 30, 2012: Boxtoberfest 2012
Hello All!
Well Boxtoberfest 2012 is only 2 weeks away! I finally got around to updating the event page. (thought I had done it awhile ago, but didn't--oops!) :) We are at Voorhees State Park again this year. Make sure you plan for the weather, October is know to be unpredictable- could be warm & sumnny (keep our fingers crossed) or it could be ick (let's hope NOT). Also remember your canned good or hygiene item for the donation box. Anything you give will be greatly appreciated. Just an FYI all event boxes are encouraged, make sure to remember to bring them. We look forward to seeing you all soon for another successful Boxtoberfest!

Oct 15, 2012: Food Bank Donations
Thank you to everyone who donated Food/Cleaning Supplies/Hygiene Supplies during the Boxtoberfest 2012 event.

The donations were dropped off at the New Britain Larder Food Bank today. With all of your generous donations we were able to provide 101 pounds of food/supplies to the food bank.
