Description
Join us for this year's Western NY summer event at Sprague Brook County Park, Shelter #6! We'll have clue books available for folks that need them, so don't worry about printing up anything inside the park. This is always a family friendly occasion and we always have surprise out-of-town guest stars, so don't miss out.As usual, LBNY T-shirts and patches are available! The shirts are through Cafe Press, so you can order them yourselves from our Cafe Press page. The patches can be gotten by following the directions here or just waiting until the event.
Note to Newbies: If you're NEVER been to an event and want some idea of what to expect when attending a gathering, just click here for some tips: http://www.atlasquest.com/events/tips2.html
Jul 16, 2012: WNY Summer Event
This year, we're back to throwing both a day event and a night one! The overnight camping experience (WNYen You Wish Upon A Star) will take place at the same park as the day event, making getting back and forth MUCH easier. If you'll be staying with us (whether for Saturday only or Friday and Saturday, be sure to ALSO sign up here so we know to expect you at the campgrounds: http://www.atlasquest.com/showinfo.html?gEventId=2580
Aug 11, 2012: Website for the WNY Summer Event is up!
Just letting you all know the website is now set to go for the WNY event. We'll be posting box clues no later than Thursday morning, so you'll be all set before this weekend comes!
Also, we know we have people camping out, but we have NO idea who's staying where. If you're signed up for the night event (which you NEED to be if you're staying overnight), please let us know which campsite you've reserved so we can find you! We (the Highlander, BfloAnonChick and myself) are on site #60 and should be at the campgrounds around 1 PM on Friday.
Aug 15, 2012: A Note about Night Boxing (WNY Event 2012)
We're changing things up a little bit for night boxing this year. There are a total of 36 stamps for night boxing. 18 will be available on Friday night, and the other 18 on Saturday night. To get all 36, you must come to both nights of night boxing (or have an excellent bribe!).
In addition, you will need colors for night boxing. Each stamp is only one color, so markers are not necessary unless that is what you prefer, but you will need orange, light/turquoise blue, hot pink, and purple to color the stamps correctly. As incentive, if you finish night boxing and bring your logbook back to me to show me your colors, there's a bonus stamp you can earn. If you do not have those colors, I have a very limited number of pads I will lend out to night boxers.
Please email me with any questions. Looking forward to seeing you this weekend! :-)

Aug 16, 2012: Yeah, about those clues...?
You're probably thinking to yourself "Hey, didn't the Sprite say clues would be posted by today?" and you'd be RIGHT! You also might be saying "I always remember them being up by WEDNESDAY of the week of the WNY event!" and you'd be right about that too!
What you WOULDN'T be is sitting up typing them in as we speak because you and BfloAnonChick just finished planting the entire series last night just before the darkness came and the weird zombie guy straggled out of the woods behind us (that'd be US doing that--don't even ask about the zombie guy part)! So, if you ABSOLUTELY must have them today, they WILL BE UP before the day is over. If it's not before you have to leave work (where you secretly print clues up...don't worry, we won't tell!), just remember we'll have about 30 clue books for you when you get to the event, or you can just print on Friday instead.
We've planted three box series along one big trail, so the entire set of clues will initially be hosted on our web page with links to record your finds here on AQ. After the event, they'll be transferred over to their individual series AQ page for permanent hosting.
Aug 16, 2012: Clue Update #2
Okay, for some reason, my normal website is claiming to be virus laden. I'm fairly sure it's NOT, since I was just on it, but I'm taking no chances. I'm uploading clues directly to AQ as we speak. There are 3 box sets for this year:
- Brown Coat's Cursed Battle Gear (6 boxes)
- The Sprite's Magical Item Emporium (8 Boxes)
- BfloAnonChick's Mystical Creature Cache & the BIG Unicorn (11 boxes)
Each of these has a section of the original clue page on it, but they were designed to be done in about an hour and 30-45 minutes in the order listed above. Also in the park are the clues from our summer event in 2008. I'm updating the clues to AQ currently, but near as we can tell, this is what's left:
- Rocky Horror Picture Show (1 box left)
- Searching for Bobby Fischer (6 boxes)
- Science Fiction Double Feature Series (4 boxes left)
- Princess Leia's Buns (1 box)
- James Dean (1 box)
- Monty Python's Black Knight (4 boxes left)
- Movie Genre Series (boxes missing, but most likely 10 or more left)
Finally, I know there's boxes from other planters listed as being in this park, but you can easily search those with the Nearby Boxes button.
