Description
By this point, the long dark days of winter will be slowly ending and everyone will likely be dusting off their serious letterboxing gear to kick off the unofficial Easter Weekend start to a season of letterboxing! If you're just beginning with this hobby, this is the perfect time to gather around with a cup of joe, and learn the basics of a successful letterbox hunt.
And if you're lucky and keep your ears perked, there might even be a few clues for word of mouth boxes going around...
This event is cross-posted at Meetup.com with the Ontario Letterboxers Ambassadors group. Feel free to sign up there as well.

Happy trails and see you soon!
Mar 21, 2013: Sunday's Meetup
Thanks everyone who has signed up! It's kind of weird, but I'm way more nervous about this Sunday than I was about last year's Box ON, so I'm really glad you'll be there. Who knew? I think it's because in this case, there are going to be a bunch of non-letterboxers that I'm going to have to explain this hobby to - in front of letterboxers who have been doing this much longer than I have. Please feel free to point out all the things I'm getting wrong ;)
I just wanted to remind everyone to feel free to bring old logbooks, favourite clues, and/or your letterboxing gear to let the new folks see. Kinda like show & tell...
Mostly, I'm hoping for a nice discussion about what letterboxing is, its history, how to start, etiquette, and where to get more information after they go. I'm hoping that it doesn't just end up me talking at everyone - more of a discussion. So if you have anything to add, feel free to jump in!
Bring your logs as I have an event stamp for the event, I'll bring my PTs (I'm hoping to have another online by the event), and if you want to show up to High Park early and grab some boxes, I'll send the clue for Hi! Park in a separate email so it isn't posted to the event page. It might be nice if an existing boxer found it before a newbie - if they go at all ;)
The plan is to meet out front of the Grenadier Cafe in High Park from 1:45 - 2. At 2, we'll go inside for coffee, or stay out if the weather is kind. Unlike other letterboxing events, I really have no idea how many of these folks will actually show up - I don't know if this is something that people will electronically sign up for and then not show... but even if that happens, it will be lovely to see everyone! Right now, there are 16 people on meetup coming (which includes myself, Lone R & BBT) - people have been dropping quite a bit, we were over 20 there for a while...
I will be bringing little booklets for everyone with some letterbox info, copies of the the 2010 Toronto Star article, my copy of Letterboxer's Companion, a single basic dollar-store starter kit (to raffle? auction? give to the only non-boxer to show?), the Hi! Park clues, a letterbox (one of Water Lily's temporarily pulled labyrinths - with permission)... if you can think of anything else I could/should bring, let me know.
See you soon!
