Description

This event will be a driving tour of some fairly spooky stamp sites in WNY (mostly Orleans, Niagara & Genesee Counties). Drivers will start at our place to pick up the box clues, then return for some basic meet & greet festivities.

Updates

9/24/07: We've found SOOOO many cemeteries that we're going to limit this year's event to ones in Orleans County. No worries, though...they'll ALL be drive-bys. I'll be setting up the route for folks to follow soon, so keep your eyes peeled!

10/6/07: Planted half of the boxes today, which turned out to be 47.5 miles. You start at the edge of Medina near the BOCES on Route 31 and end up zigzaging mostly south of there until you reach Albion. From where we stopped, you could easily swing back into Medina to our house for some conversation and such. Or, if you're a diehard Phoenix boxer, you could get a little something to eat in Albion and push on through to the cemeteries north and west for the last leg of the trip.

10/7/07: We have 31 (yes, THIRTY-ONE!) cemetery stamps! You'll also be able to pick up a few regular boxes that are on your way, such as Kum Bah Ya, Weebls: Pie, One Tin Soldier, plus more could be easily grabbed if you wanted to go a little out of the way. I'll be posting the clues this evening and into tomorrow, but anyone who'd like to test the first leg early should be able to do so for Columbus Day (I'll post the link when I'm done tonight). Again, if you want to make a test run, let us know how it goes so we can make corrections if need be. Don't try to banzai the whole tour in one day if you can help it (or start early and take a break as needed!). The first leg took about 3 hours, for sure, but we don't quite know about the second. The Highlander got some kind of 24 bug while we were out (on that note, Otter Creek has a nice spot in the WAYYYY back if anyone wants to play Guess What the Highlander Ate for Sunday Breakfast!), so we had to do the last part over two days and forgot to watch the time. We also mixed up two of the stamps because I grabbed the wrong one in my hurry to get him home.

No matter what, be sure to let us know if you go and we'll give you our home number in case you get lost. I uploaded the map to a page as well, but if you want a better view, get a Western Region map from Mapworks...it's the best!

10/19/07: The 3rd stamp in the series (West Shelby Cemetery) has already been muggled by the little girl across the street. Since her parents might get all upset if someone came and roughed up their kid, we've decided to just call this one a loss. Follow the same directions from the clues, but DON'T stop here.

Also, if you want to swing by and visit for a bit, we'll be here all day, but probably won't be ready for company until around 5 (and the actual event is starting at 6pm). Enter our abode at your own risk!

Finally, if you want to stop and get the Weebls Pie stamp up at Brown's Berry Patch, contact us to let us know. We forgot to include this in the clues, but can direct you to there from the Waterport Cemetery easily.
