I was thinking that the warning on the main page may not be enough. Even some of us who are on the boards a lot didn't even know about it at first because we just go straight to My Page, and some people log on a lot less than everyday like me.

So what if you created a temporary theme for this weekend? The top banner could just say, in big red letters "AQ will be offline Monday, April 2nd" or some such. That way it would be obvious no matter what page you were on. Have fun with it: the images at the bottom could be biohazard and radiation warnings, and the menu bars could be police tape.

It was an honestly legitimate suggestion, but you're right, Ryan, you just can't win in this situation.
