my problem with those chairs, the seat is too low for me.

the overall length is too short for a walking stick or even a cane.

I'm not that tall but it's too short for me

I had a stroke about 8 years ago. I lost the use of my right (dominant) side. I bought store bought stamps previous to that, but I have always wanted to try carving.....

Thank you Orchid and condo! Appreciate you both ☺️ !

Well, my initial thought was to have a tracker but my second thought was that no one would sign up. 🤪 But you have convinced me it might work. I will say this to anyone reading this, it ended up being easier than I thought.

I’ll list a tracker and see if I get any takers. I do like your suggestions condo, I think I’ll borrow one 😉

Thanks

I love every stamp I find. The fact that someone took the time to create a stamp, carve it to the best of their ability, research a hiding place, and place it there for me to find is enough to me.

100% this!

I can honestly say I love every stamp I find. One of my favorite impressions is of a frog. It’s obvious that the carver struggled. You would never confuse it with ‘high’ art. But the quaintness and the apparent love and effort that went into it made it very emotionally satisfying.

Sadly it was a hitchhiker without the proper attribution so I never knew who the artist was. But I say, thank you brave frog carver, where ever you are - you made our day!

Go for it! Get a good carving tool and start carving. Your non-dominant hand can learn to do this. And it’s good therapy! :-)

After LCAB posted about maps, I was looking at our maps. It appears as though we have found two boxes in Texas. I have not letterboxes in Texas. 😕 THIS is why if we recycle a stamp to another state, we could retire the first plant and make a new listing. Do you have funds in states where you have not boxed -- for even been?

Nope. If something like that happens, I track it down and give the box the custom location of where I actually found it.

This is more of an "old" problem than a current one. You used to have to manually add a custom location to make sure a box that you found was listed in the correct place if it was later moved to another state, but I updated the website a few years ago so that it's added automatically whenever someone changes the location of a box.

There was no way for me to "backdate" this update since AQ never recorded when or where locations were changed so any existing errors stayed. But after the update, the problem doesn't happen anymore.

So fix the two boxes you found in "Texas" by adding a custom location and putting in the actual location where the boxes were found. Then... don't worry about it. The problem shouldn't happen anymore. =)

No need to clutter up the the database with multiple listings of the same box!

Ryan, I’ve recently retired several postals and personal travelers and reissued them as traditional boxes. Are you saying I don’t need to retire them first?

… made the required cards and sent them off. They were returned to me, and I was told they were not good enough.

Unreal. If you still have some if the cards, you should open a tracker: “LTCs I Was Told Weren’t Good Enough.” 🤣 That’ll stick it to whomever told you that.

《Are you saying I don’t need to retire them first?》postals and personal travelers are all their own category as are traditional boxes. No need to retire a postal when you plant the traditional. It like you already have an apple and an orange. What you will be planting is the banana...... they don't morph!! Enjoy them all.

You do need to relist boxes of they change type. Those who find it as a postal it personal traveler shouldn't get credit for the traditional find! Or vice versa.

But AQ won't even let you change the box type once somebody records a find on it to prevent that from happening.

I'm referring to traditional boxes that move from one location to another. That's fine, and it won't cause problems for old finders since AQ will automatically make a custom location for it based on the location when they recorded the find.

Good to know. I think most of the hitchhikers have now moved on. Those were my priority. I’ve talked with Debbie (Gypsy Fiddler). We are holding Amy’s carves, all of them, until after my event in December. I get almost all the locals and folks from Colorado Springs, Glenwood Springs, WY, NM, and Durango at this event. We decided to share them with as many as possible and then release them into the wild. She will take half and I’ll take half. Plans are to plant out of state for me.
I gave all the rubber to Debbie. She also has the cruise ship carved by Amy as she’s going on that letterboxing cruise in June to Alaska. She’ll be giving it back for the Dec event.
Thank you the stamps.
Hope things are going well for you. I’m encouraging you to get back into at least finding letterboxes!

So I began letterboxing in 2014. I started with traditional then cards and portals. Got crazy busy with the hobby and even co-hosted a GLG event. Went by the name JLSD0218. My husband was sick and this occupied my time. Well, he got sicker and eventually my time was spent in and out of hospitals. Then he came to needing a heart transplant... And... The day came that they found a heart. 12 hours later, with many complications, he died during the surgery. So my hiatus from my hobby became much longer. Now, 4 years later, my mom and I are back at it with traditionals. She was really exited to go out this past Friday and we found 3 of the 5 we were looking for.
Now, with LTCs, postals, and tabletop event boxes I have carved hundreds of stamps that are just sitting in a closet! That being said and with mommy's encouragement, be on the look out near Evansville, IN and surrounding areas for new traditional boxes. I made 51 pouches last night so here we go. And I may join an LTC or two. And I have a ton of event boxes and thought about an event in the future! My new name is Pitt Mom since I now have three awesome pitbulls! Thanks for listening and excited about future journeys!

Welcome back, Pitt Mom! I'm so sorry for your very long and difficult journey with your husband's health. You were a faithful wife to him.

I wish I lived closer to you because I need some boxes to find in West Michigan! And if you and your mom want to take a road trip to Michigan for the next GLG, know that you are welcome to join in. I'm not hosting, but those who are the hosts are fabulous!

I had you in mind when I posted the link.
A good story-teller with an interesting, little known, piece of history is worth the listen.
I also like a young woman from Ireland, who has, "Who Did What Now".
Many of her stories are dark, well, the most interesting history is a bit darker than normally portrayed.

If you're a fan of Miss Piggy, this one is a total biographical romp.

If anyone local to Colo Spgs carves and would be willing to do one on one carving sessions, I would be interested in getting some much needed advice on my carving technique

I don't think there are many (if any) active boxers in the Springs right now but check out The Woodshed's Holiday event in December. It has a great turnout of Colorado boxers and someone would probably be willing to give a demo then.

Bassett Mom also hosts weekly zoom chats that might be helpful for feedback.
