Description

It's the tenth anniversary of Box ON! And Canada's 150th birthday, too. Take a journey through time

Join us at the Badenoch Community Centre, a converted country schoolhouse from 1889. There a small playground, a woodlot with trails, and lots of really great hiding places. You'll find so many boxes!

Aug 11, 2017: Box ON 2017 - update!
Hello, fellow letterboxers!

Preparations are well underway for the October 1 event. I already have 28 stamps, and more are on their way. If you agreed to carve for the event, please get it to me by September 1. With three different series to plant, I have to get started early.

We'll have two trails to hike, and series with less walking that involves puzzles to solve.

Sign up for lunch if you haven't yet. I haven't arranged a raffle, and am instead suggesting a $5 donation per registration to cover the rental. It's a great site for us, rain or shine, and will be beautiful in the fall.

Sep 2, 2017: Time change for Box ON!
I've made the start time for Box ON an hour later (11:00). It'll give me more time to set up some of the more complicated boxes before you all arrive.

It would be a good idea to learn how to do a Sudoku puzzle. You might also want to review your Strawberry Shortcake doll characters.

Sep 22, 2017: Just around the corner!
Box ON! 2017: Time Warp just crept into the top ten upcoming events on AQ, and it's my AQ anniversary today, so it's time to send another welcome invitation to next week's event.

Nearly all the stamps have arrived. There will be 45 traditional plants in three series, plus a dozen other new event stamps. All doable in a day.

If you haven't signed up for lunch, please let us know what you'll be bringing. We have access to a kitchen with fridge and sink.

I strongly recommend bug spray.

Sep 24, 2017: Clue booklet will be available at the event
I had someone ask about the clues. I've printed the clue booklets and they'll be available at the event. I'll be putting the boxes in early Sunday morning.

Oct 1, 2017: Thanks for coming! About logging all those finds...
Hi everyone, and thanks much for coming today! We couldn't have asked for better weather. It was great to see so many new faces.

As you log your finds, please remember that most of those stamps were donated by carvers all over Canada and the US. They were generous with their time and creativity. Take a moment to thank them for their efforts. Our event wouldn't be nearly as good without their help.

Thanks especially to those who stayed late to help clean up. I really appreciated it. And extra special thanks to Rubber Rabbit and family for coming early to help plant.

Box ON moves around every year, and we need someone to volunteer to host it in 2018. No qualifications needed, and lots of help offered.

Thanks again, and we'll see you all next year!
