AQ Completes Hostile Takeover of LbNA
This year, Choi retired and I (Green Tortuga) took over the running of LbNA. It was a friendly take-over, but for April Fools, it was announced that the takeover was rather hostile.
Additionally, on LbNA, the under new management announcement was... rather hostile as well. This announcement was moved to AQ to keep everything about this year’s April Fools joke together in one place, but was originally posted to LbNA.
AQ members, additionally, were able to sign or reject a loyalty oath that would add or subtract from one’s “loyalty score”. Those with sufficient amount of loyalty had a crown added by their trailname while those whose loyalty score fell too much had a “backstabbing dagger“ added by their trailname.
As an added perk for AQ members, they had a special link that could (allegedly) break LbNA for 10 minutes at a time. The link sent them to a locked out page on LbNA, pretending that there were “too many connections” on the database and that they scored bonus loyalty points for crashing LbNA. That was all nonsense. Even the bonus loyalty points were nonsense since the two websites don’t really talk to each other and there was no simple, easy way for the LbNA website to change the loyalty score for AQ members. But it was fun making people think they might have really locked up LbNA!
After all was said and done, I posted the real story of AQ’s friendly takeover of LbNA to the AQ blog.
