PAL limps on. With the demise of the Naked Letterboxing Event, http://blog.atlasquest.com/2017/04/naked-letterboxing-day-canceled.html I'm taking up the mantle of hosting the traditional clothed event.

Here's what Mn8x, past host, said.

Event Info
We came up with the idea for this day way back in 2006. At first it was a to see if we could break the AQ record for the number of new boxes posted on AQ in one day. And we did! Now we just celebrate for the fun of it! The idea is to get out there on the event day and plant letterboxes in your area. Then post the clues on AQ. So, it's not really a get together, "face-to-face" event. But more of a get together "in-spirit" kind of thing. Just think of all those letterboxers out at the same time on an international planting spree!

Although the widget counts only quantity of letterboxes, concentrate on quality of letterboxes in really interesting locations. Take your fellow letterboxers to a place beautiful, quirky, profound. Much better one good letterbox that makes the finders feel wowed than ten that make them feel meh. Actually the one I have planned for this year is not so much a "wow" experience; it's more of an "awww, that was nice." And now there's been a change of plans so I'll be out-of-town on PAL day, so my plant will count for another state--but that's okay because Kansas really needs the letterboxes.
