Description
Come join in a day of boxing for stamps having to do with all things Egyptian. This is an event kit comprised of carves by soto4, peacein17, pixadoodles, wavesandwaterfalls, photodabbe, pinkandblack ninja, and string of pearls. They have carved 100 stamps.
Location is set for Columbine Open Space located south of Castle Rock. There is a covered pavillion and restrooms.
To get there from the Denver area, take the Plum Creek exit on the south end of Castle Rock. Take the service road on the EAST side of I 25. Drive about 6 miles. The interstate will be on your right.
To get there from the Colorado Springs area, take the Tomah Road exit and take the service road on the EAST side of I 25. The interstate will be on your left.
A large red barn is visible from the Frontage Road, turn east and cross the one-lane bridge. Park only in the designated parking lot.
Sorry, no dogs are allowed due to wildlife protection. The property provides important wildlife habitat for numerous wildlife species, including deer, elk, and a variety of birds, reptiles, small mammals, amphibians and fish. The creek area of Columbine Open Space is also habitat for the federally threatened Preble’s meadow jumping mouse.
The trails are comprised of two 1.5 mile loops that follow through the upper grasslands and shrublands. Trail rating is easy, with a short climb on the south loop. All boxes will be hidden on the south loop, Red Barn area, and parking lot. No stamps will be located on the north trail.
We will provide bar-b-qued hamburgers and bratwurst. Please bring salads, fruit, chips, veggies, cookies, etc. to share.
Things to Bring:
Compass. There is cell coverage so a compass on your phone should be adequate.
Black ink pad. All the stamps on the trail are stamped in black. You may wish to have colored ink or markers for table toppers and exchanges.
Sturdy shoes. The grasses are going to leave a lot of hitchhikers in your socks and laces. Be prepared.
Water bottle, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, bug spray.
Food item to share for the lunch potluck. We will provide all the meat.
Your honor system. Due to the fact that there are 108 stamps and at least 3/4 of them have log books, I am pulling the log books. All the log books will be put on a table at headquarters for stamping at your convenience. They will be in baggies with the pictures of the carves that they go with. There is also a main event stamp. You can elect to bypass the inividual log books all together and just stamp the event box. The choice is yours.
Tabletops are welcome. Check for exchanges that you need.
